MD Notebook A6 Artist Collaboration - Kenji Nakayama
In celebration of MD's 15th year anniversary, the MD team invited Kenji Nakayama and 14 other artists to get creative with the MD Notebook and enjoy the way you can write everywhere, even on the cover. Then they created a special-edition MD Notebooks with the artists' illustrations and writing blind embossed on the covers.
With the artists given carte blanche on an A5 MD, the original artwork is debossed on an A6 notebook.
Kenji Nakayama for Midori MD
Kenji is a Hokkaido-born, Boston-based visual artist and sign painter. After moving to the USA, he graduated from the Butera School of Art, a specialist sign painting school. He has worked on the designs for many billboards, along with many art projects and designs for company branding.
About their artwork for Midori MD, Kenji shares: "I tend to practice on white paper, and that's what inspired me to be a part of this project. My unstructured, scribbly script expresses the way I never follow guidelines — my focus is on the rhythm of my writing and the balance between the letters and the white paper."
